White Collar Crime – Former Cambridge Biotech Executive Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
CAMBRIDGE, MA – OCTOBER 6th 2009
Howard Richman, 57, of Pearland, Texas, formerly an executive at Cambridge-based, biotech company Biopure Corp., has been sentenced to three years in prison for lying to a federal judge about his health. He told the judge he was gravely ill with colon cancer in order to evade a government lawsuit against him over an experimental synthetic blood product.
Richman was formerly senior vice president of regulatory affairs for Biopure Corp. His sentence also included three years of supervised release and a $50,000 fine.
