Federal Crimes

Federal crimes are those that violate U.S. federal legislation or those that occur on U.S. federal property. These are generally types of crimes where the FBI has investigated criminal wrong doing and there has been a criminal indicment. There are wide range of federal crimes including ranging from cybercrime to organized crimes. For example, tax evasion and possession of weapons banned by the National Firearms Act, are Federal Crimes.

Mail fraud which crosses state lines or involves the (national) United States Postal Service is a federal offense. Additional federal crimes include kidnapping, tax evasion, counterfeiting, theft of major artwork from a museum,[1] damaging or destroying mailboxes, or immigration offenses. Many drug related crimes are Federal Offenses and carry mandatory minimum drug sentences.
